THREADS THAT CONNECT: IFFIZI x Biam Dhifá

IFFIZI’s SS27 collection AFROSAMBA arrives on the Africa Fashion Week London runway on 22 August with a special collaboration connecting Abuja and Salvador da Bahia.

The collaboration began in February 2026, when IFFIZI founder and creative director Sandra Alonge travelled to Brazil as part of the inspiration and research behind AFROSAMBA. In Salvador, she was introduced to Bahian fashion designer Biam Dhifá at FALA, Artes e Design, the newly opened art and fashion space on Rua Chile, regarded as Brazil’s oldest street. Curated by Tania Póvoa and Biam Dhifá, FALA presents contemporary Bahian art, fashion and design deeply rooted in the region’s Afro-Brazilian heritage.

Sandra was immediately drawn to Biam’s bold, sculptural textile bracelets, and the two designers began discussing a collaboration. After returning to Nigeria, Sandra shared the vision and colour palette for AFROSAMBA with Biam, who created a special series of bracelets exclusively for IFFIZI SS27, in colours designed to complement the collection.

The collaboration reflects the wider story behind AFROSAMBA: an exploration of the centuries-old cultural connections between Nigeria and Brazil, particularly the Yoruba heritage that remains deeply woven into the culture of Salvador da Bahia. For IFFIZI, those connections are not simply historical; they are a living source for contemporary creativity.

IFFIZI x Biam Dhifá will debut at the 16th Africa Fashion Week London on 22 August 2026, before AFROSAMBA continues to Abuja, Brussels, Antwerp, Zurich, Lagos and, finally, back to where this collaboration began: Salvador da Bahia in January 2027.

From Salvador to Abuja to London — threads that connect.
